Getting started

What is Initrix?

A website where you ask for AI work and have it done on a computer you own. It has three areas: Lab for conversations and files, Programs for things worth keeping, and Compute for the machines that do the work.

Do I need an account?

Yes. You sign in with an Initrix account, and everything you do is filed under one of your organizations. Initrix is in early testing, so accounts are limited for now.

What do I need to install?

Nothing to use the website. To run work on your own computer you download one small program from Compute → Fleet → Connect computer. It runs as you, needs no admin rights, and can be removed with one command.

Which computers can I connect?

Linux computers today. Windows and macOS are planned. You can use the website itself from any phone or laptop browser.

Connecting a computer

How do I connect a computer?
  1. On that computer, open Compute → Fleet → Connect computer.
  2. Download the program and check its fingerprint matches.
  3. Run it as your normal user. It prints a short code.
  4. Paste the code into the website, give the computer a name you will recognise, and approve it.
  5. Confirm in the terminal, then leave the program running.
Why does it need two confirmations?

So a code on its own cannot connect a machine. The website approves the request; the computer confirms it is really the one you meant. Only approve a code you generated yourself. Codes expire after ten minutes.

What if pairing gets interrupted?

Start again. An unfinished attempt does nothing. If it ended in a way you are not sure about, the program can check and recover the connection, or forget the attempt on that computer only.

How do I disconnect a computer?

Press Unlink on its page, or run the unlink command on the computer. The connection stops and the program exits. Your history of what ran there is kept.

Does the computer stay connected when I close the program?

No. There is no background service. When the program stops, the website shows the computer as offline within a couple of minutes.

Sharing a folder

How do I share a folder?

On the connected computer, choose a folder and give it a name. The website shows the request; approve it there. A shared folder can be revoked at any time, and approvals expire after thirty days unless you renew them.

Does Initrix change my files?

No. Work runs on a private copy of the folder. The original files are never written to. Results you want to keep come back to you separately, so you decide what goes where.

What is left out of the copy?

Files with well-known password, key or credential names, and generated folders such as node_modules. Whatever was skipped is listed so nothing is hidden from you. This is a safety net, not a full secret scanner: keep private files outside the folders you share.

Can the work reach the internet?

Not in this version. A job gets the copied folder, a temporary working space, and nothing else: no network, no other folders, no passwords from your account.

How a request runs

What happens when I send a request?

It is saved first, so it survives a closed tab or a dropped connection. Then it runs on the computer you picked, but only once you have said yes to running work there. You can watch it, stop it, or try again from any browser.

What if the computer is not ready?

The request says setup needed and waits for you. It never shows as running when it is not, and Initrix never makes up a reply.

Which AI does the work?

Codex through your own ChatGPT subscription, or Claude Code through your own Claude subscription, on your own computer. Initrix runs the unmodified official tool, never sees your password or sign-in token, and does not use API keys or resell AI. Your plan's five-hour and weekly limits are shared with everything else you do on that plan; Initrix does not add or remove any.

Whose rules apply to the AI?

The vendor's. Anthropic's Consumer Terms and Usage Policy cover a Claude subscription, and OpenAI's Terms of Use cover ChatGPT. Each vendor decides what its plan covers, and that has changed during 2026: as of October 7, 2026, Anthropic says programmatic use and third-party apps draw from your subscription limits. If a vendor changes its position, this page will say so.

Can I follow along from my phone?

Yes. Sign in on your phone with the same account and organization. You see the same conversations, the same requests, and the same stop button.

Your data

What stays on my computer?

Your original files, the private working copy, and the sign-in for the AI. The program keeps a small private record of its own connection under your user account and nothing else.

What does Initrix store?

Your account and organization, the names of computers you connected, the folders you approved, your conversations and requests, and the results you chose to keep. It does not store a copy of your shared folders.

Who can see my work?

You, within the organization you were signed into when you did it, and anyone you invite to a conversation. Organizations are kept apart. Work an invited person asks for runs on your computer and your subscription only after you approve it, and you are responsible for what runs under your account.

What is coming

Can I work with other people in one conversation?

Yes, by invitation. Share a conversation's invitation code with someone in your organization and they join it. Anything they ask to run on your computer waits for your approval, each time, and runs on your subscription when you approve it. If you opt in, you can switch a conversation to run their requests without approval; every such request shows who asked and that you ran it.

Will there be Windows and macOS versions?

Planned. Linux is first because that is where testing happens.

Will there be a phone app?

The website already works on a phone. A native app is planned for later.
